Depending on the age of your satchel, select “Pre 2014” if your bag dates from 2014 or earlier, or “Post 2014” if you purchased it after 2014. Please note: 1. Recent satchels (post-2014) – You can replace the clasp instantly by sliding the new buckle through the satchel’s leather tab. 2. Older satchels (up to 2014) – The new clasp will not fit the metal “female” part already fixed to the bag, because the design changed and the old version is no longer made. You will need to replace the female part as well; we automatically include it with your clasp. Open the bag and locate the metal female fitting on the inside. A leather cover may hide the back. Peel this back if present. The metal piece is held by four prongs folded over the leather. Straighten the prongs to remove the old fitting. Position the new fitting using the same holes, fold the prongs down to secure it, then glue the leather cover back in place. If you prefer, any local cobbler can do this quickly for you. If you want two clasps that look perfectly identical, we recommend ordering two instead of one.
